Since Christmas, things have been a bit quiet. I have only shot Peter Hook for The Line of Best Fit and Alt-J (with Clean Bandit and Nightworks opening for them) for Retna.I also shot Blood Red Shoes for Getty. Now I'm off on holidays !
Back from Tour
I got back from a five weeks tour with Nada Surf last sunday. It was a great experience. I will put pictures up as soon as I have got time. So weird to be back ! Now I just need to find a very nice band to take me on tour again. Since I got back, I shot Passion Pit at the Forum and a couple of the MENCAP Little Noise Sessions gigs. I shot Richard Hawley who was of course amazing, Prince Charles, Noah and The Whale and a few other bands. It was a great set up in a church I've never ever seen before and only five minutes walk from my place. If you want to give to MENCAP, here you go.
I'm OFF (again)
Since my last update, I shot Richard Hawley at Brixton for the Line of Best Fit whose hair was cut by this man, I think that he is amazing !!!I also shot Radiohead and had a picture (the big one) in The Sun, online and the printed versions. I also had another one in the NME online, the 1st one on their slideshow...
I also had a XX picture on The Time online. And finally yesterday, I shot Marina & The Diamonds at the Forum in Kentish Town. I've been a bit busy lately, but I have one more thing to do before I go on Tour. I have a wedding tomorrow, Claire & Paul, they are sweet and I'm looking forward to it !
After that I'll be off on Tour with Nada Surf for 5 weeks !
Updates
Earlier this year, I shot a couple of portraits for my friends' band which is called "Winters". Their LP is now out on Van Records. My picture has been used on the insert of the Vinyl and for their Press pack. They had some good reviews, if you're into Metal, check them out ! The last couple of weeks, I also shot Kimbra, Patti Smith and Perfume Genius for the Line of Best Fit. I also shot a couple of gigs at the Roundhouse for the Itunes Festival, Madness, Reverend and the Makers, Kindness and Hot Chip. All the pictures can be find on Getty website.
The Guardian online also used two of my pictures of Lianne La Havas and Richard Hawley to illustrate their Mercury Prize nominations.
I am going away on tour with a band very soon but I have got a couple of beautiful gigs scheduled before I set off. I will post a few pictures at the end of next week.
Electric Picnic Pictures
I have attended the Electric Picnic in Ireland last week-end and shot for The Line of Best Fit, but also for this. Great atmosphere this year.I have to say that I was not really looking forward to it as last year edition was cold and rainy and I got lost in the parking lot forever under the rain :) This year was much better, it was also my 60th Cure concert, a bit crazy, but true...
It was great to see Richard Hawley live, he is my new favorite and great to catch up with Cranes too !
A couple of days before the festival, I also found out that one of my image of Arcade Fire from last year edition had been used for the Design of an Heineken online banner. I had not been asked about it but all is well that ends well and I hope I will work with them again !
Iceland
Last week, I just got back from Iceland and left the next day for Reading Festival. I shot lots of bands, my favorite bands to watch were The Cure, Eagles of Death Metal and Two Door Cinema Club. There is a selection of pictures on Flickr.
Now, I have got two more days to spend in London before I leave for the Electric Picnic Festival in Ireland where again The Cure, Grimes, Alabama Shakes, Metronomy and many more are playing ! Looking forward to it ! Hope it won't be raining...
Posi+tive Magazine - Chernobyl Feature
Last week I shot Lianne La Havas at the Village Underground for the launch of her album. I also shot a couple of more gigs from the Summer Series at the Somerset House : Paloma Faith & Seye and French artist Charlotte Gainsbourg.I also shot Angie Stone and Nanci Griffith.
Last but not least, I got a feature of my Chernobyl pictures on Posi+tive Magazine . I love this online magazine so I was so happy that they have accepted my submission !
Sebastien Tellier
Last week, I shot a couple of gigs at the Summer Series at the Somerset House. I've catch Tindersticks, Emmy the Great, Anna Calvi and Cold Specks. My highlight was definitely shooting Traction festival in Kings Cross for The Line of Best Fit. Especially because I got to shoot some portrait of French singer Sebastien Tellier ! I've put my favorite in my Portrait section and there is a few more on flickr.
KISS !!!
This week, I was lucky enough to shoot Kiss twice !! I attended their press conference where they were talking about their new photography book. Unfortunately they didn't wear their trademark make-up but I got to shoot their show at the Forum too. It was completely amazing. I only knew a couple of songs but they totally ROCKED IT and I really hope to see them again. I couldn't believe how good they were ! It was great to shoot a band with so much energy, posing for the camera and with amazing lights ! Everything was perfect, despite the 29 other photographers next to me :) I also shot "The tallest Man on Earth" in Hackney for The Line of Best Fit and The Psychedelic Furs at The Garage.
Hop Farm + Garbage
Since my last updates, my websites have been hacked. You could visit a Russian website by clicking my name on google and it resulted on me having to pay a webmaster and new host to get rid of it. I wasn't really ready for the expenditure but anyway, it's getting back to normal slowly but surely... Last weekend, I've also covered the Hop Farm Festival for the Line of Best Fit. I think I have not been treated so well at any other festival before. Nice press people, food, drinks... I particularly enjoyed watching Slow Club and of course Patti Smith (despite her spitting a lot on stage and me making sure that I wasn't on the way...). Patrick Wolf also played violin with her...
I also shot Garbage at Brixton Academy on sunday evening...
And if you bought the Guitarist Magazine from last month, there is one of my picture from the Cure New York Reflection show on it.
Primavera
Primavera is always a bit of a challenge as there is about 200 photographers to share the pits with... Here are my pros and cons of this year festival.+ Sun + Seeing the Cure + Shooting Portraits of Josh T Pearson - one of the greatest beard around + Richard Hawley + Goat cheese salad
- The storm on the last day and no tent to put us in - Shooting the Cure (the worse pictures of my Cure history - I will blame the high stage and the other 200 photographers)... - Waking up after three hours sleep - Not understanding anything - Too many point and shoot
One of the good things is that I met Josh T Pearson who accepted to do a portrait session. However I had to wake up after only three hours sleep to do the shoot at the hotel. I waited patiently half asleep for him and his Manager to arrive, behind Marianne Faithful... I would have love to bump into Warren Ellis who played the Festival with the Dirty Three but unfortunately it didn't happen !
Since I have been back from Primavera, I have only shot one gig : Jack White at Brixton !
A couple of pics are on flickr - Do not use anywhere even on Blogs without my prior authorization - Thanks !
Mystery Jets @ Brixton
Last friday, I was shooting Mystery Jets at Brixton Academy. I couldn't believe how big they've become ! I think that the last time that I've seen them was for their Rough Trade in store gig in 2008. They've come a long way !
New Website
This is the new version of my website. Much more easier to maintain that the previous one and It enables me to Blog in my broken English too...
